Site-specific installation within the structure of a fallen tree
Southeast London, Hilly Fields
Created as part of the Brockley Max Festival

Installation is set within an already existing space created by a large broken tree. Its trunk is split, creating a frame-like structure with three arched entrances. The gaps are filled with banners and plastic bags with capitalist slogans, moving sacks, old blankets, cheap pvc tablecloths and other materials sewn together by hand. The enclosed structure becomes an upgraded hiding spot, an odd room with cut-out entrances and windows.
This large scale collage is a collection of things that reflects a quintessentially British experience: Greggs sausage rolls; Thames Water; the Royal Family; tabloids; pints; pawn shops; housing crisis; queues; small font credit traps; NHS waiting lists and other essentials. As part of the landscape is turned into a finished object with handmade walls and intricate embroidered details, a glitch-like layered effect is created in the physical dimension.
